What is Chiropractic?
Chiropractic comes from the Greek word meaning
'chiro' hand, and 'practikos' to practise. So
Chiropractic literally means 'to practice by hand'.
Chiropractors in plain English, are experts in
the care of bodies, nerves, muscles and connective
tissue that make up about 60% of your body.
The main Chiropractic technique is to very accurately
and gently manipulate or 'adjust' the spine using
hands to improve the efficiency of the nervous
system and release the body's natural healing
ability.
Chiropractors are trained to modify their treatment
according to the medical history, age and fitness
making chiropractic suitable for all types and ages
of people from babies to elderly people, from
pregnant women to active sports people.
Chiropractors follow a recognised medical training
including the taking and reading of x-rays and are
Doctors, registered and regulated by The General
Chiropractic Council.
What symptoms do Chiropractors help?
Much research is carried out by the professional
bodies showing that chiropractic can help back
pain, neck pain, arm pain, leg pain, rsi, headaches,
migraines, sciatica and a host of other
day to day aches and pains.
Where are Chiropractors?
Treatment is generally available privately in Brighton, Hove, Sussex and Chiropractors can be found listed in our
internet search directories or in telephone
directories. Chiropractic is becoming increasingly
well known in the UK with more practices setting up
businesses down the local high street.
Personal Chiropractor Referral
Much of Chiropractic treatment, too, can be by
personal referrals where a friend might have
experienced back pain and found a local
Chiropractor, that they are happy with their care.
Ask friends, they may have seen one or know
of a friend who can refer one.
How much does Chiropractic treatment cost?
Costs vary to visit Chiropractors across the UK.
Chiropractors undertake work for most major Health
Insurance providers too - whilst GP referral and
funding can be difficult to obtain. Extra costs may be
charged if treated as an emergency.
Check beforehand the cost of a treatment
plan; account facilities may be available.
Do I have to book to see a Chiropractor?
Some Chiropractors are so busy that they are not
easy to book with immediately and may even
operate waiting lists. Others Clinics may leave a
booking free every day to see new patient case;
much depends on the number of Practices operating
in that location. Advice can be 'to shop around'.
